If any disciple will simply practice kindness,
He will soon attain Supreme Perfect Enlightenment.

Jacob Max Winkler writes: Kindness is the answer to confusion. When it is hard to hear God’s voice within me or to understand wisdom from a text, I come back to this. Kindness prompts me to pray. I bless others and receive my own blessing. I turn toward myself with love. I eat, I nap, I stretch. I call a friend and ask him to sing back to me the song of my heart, to remind me of what I love. I listen.
I look for chores and do them. I sit and breathe. Somewhere in the midst of that breathing, I remember the gift of life. I melt in awe of the kindness of that gift. I cling to it, then let it go. I pray again. May others remember this gift.
Kindness is salvation. It is freedom from fear, the recognition of a higher truth. It is seeing clearly what needs to be done. This is enlightenment.
